Whee! I actually sold some of my jewelry this weekend.
I was at the Nevermore Film Fest (featuring gothic and horror films obviously) at carolina theatre and sold 187$ worth of jewelry. which is really REALLY awesome (as long as I don't then think about the 50$ fee for the table at the festival, the money to buy the supplies, the gas to drive back and forth, etc etc)

but still. people liked and bought my jewelry, and several asked for business cards (which i don't have, but I gave them all the url to my etsy page, and the website i'm building)

so very cool. I count it as a success.

next weekend anna and I are going to see STOMP! in charlotte, which will also be quite cool.


and so yes, I try to focus on those things, instead of my tendency to be paranoid and self conscious, and isolated and lonely.



ANYWAYS.
weekend = mostly good.

I had a lot of time on my hands over christmas, and so ended up doing a lot of different sorts of jewelry.
The pictures aren't perfect yet, but at least I can see that my photography is getting better. I really need a photo-editing program that has an automatic whitebalance, because the one I'm using now doesn't, which makes it rather difficult.

text just isn't making me happy lately, dunno, I just can't make it work as well. Maybe its because all of my favorite lines from both movies are too long to work into 100x100 pixels and still be readable.

and being who i am, i had to go make icons, lol
one of the pictures i used was of neil gaiman, age 16, and part of a band. the other was of neil gaiman and douglas adams working together *swoon*



yes, they're slightly blasphemous, but, well. If neil gaiman and douglas adams can't be considered gods of the written word, who can?

I made these icons for our favorite "pretty pretty princess," because who deserves them more?

the icons come from my own art which i scanned in, they're not anything special, but they're fun
and the dragon picture is something i've been working on for a long time, but am starting to get tired of, hence the fact its not finished (jay: it took the place of madeline, sorry :( )

It was actually written for an english assignment (as should be obvious), but i liked it too much to let it end with the grade.

I'm contemplating submitting it to the lit mag on campus, let me know what you think...

 

several things about life
- i enjoy driving, a lot, i dont know why i didn't get my liscense earlier
- my sister has a more successful love life than i do, and knowing they're kissing and cuddling downstairs is more depressing than i really want to admit
- today is august 1, in 11 days i move into my dorm
- i bought a plant for my dorm room, a cactus, it will be impossible to kill, i dont know what to name it yet
- the library nearest my house sucks, and soon i'm going to make the far trek to the one downtown in hopes its better
- i miss people, and i'm sad that some of them haven't made a single effort to talk to me in lots and lots of weeks.
- i watched amelie again last night (hadn't seen it in a while), and it inspired the following:
